Gylfi relishing Reds test
Gylfi Sigurdsson is savouring our run of huge matches.
The Iceland midfielder again won the praise of Andre Villas-Boas after a fine display in Thursday night's 3-0 win against Inter Milan in the first leg of our Europa League, Round of 16 tie.
Gylfi capped his display with an assist for Gareth Bale's opener and his first goal at the Lane when he slotted home the rebound after Jermain Defoe's shot was saved.
His performance was hot on the heels of a vital goal in the win at West Ham and creating the first goal for Gareth in Sunday's North London derby victory.
In-form Liverpool are next in the Premier League on Sunday in what is always one of the stand out matches of the season at Anfield.
It was put to Gylfi that the big games just keep on coming at the moment. "That’s the way you want it," he said. "You want to have two games every week, that’s why we’re here, we want the games, especially big games like against Arsenal, Liverpool and Inter Milan.
"We’ll now recover for a couple of days and make sure we’re ready for Liverpool."
It said a lot about our dominance against Inter that we could have won by a bigger margin and that was certainly on Gylfi's mind afterwards.
"If you’d have asked us before the game I think we would all have taken 3-0 but the way the game went, we were looking for the fourth," he added.
"Having said that, we were also lucky not to concede, Brad made a great save in the second half but it was a great night.
"It’s a good lead to take to Milan because we know how strong Inter will be at home, we’re expecting a tough game out there."
