Gutsy display - Daws

Michael Dawson felt the team showed character to grab a point at Chelsea.

“It was a gutsy performance from the whole team, we just couldn’t get the three points,” said the skipper after Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge.

We came from behind twice with a wonder goal from Emmanuel Adebayor levelling it at 1-1 and then Gylfi Sigurdsson’s fine late strike 10 minutes from time.

“We gave ourselves an uphill climb by giving the early goal away, a disappointing goal to concede from a defensive point of view, but then got a great goal from Ade,” added Michael.

“They scored again before the break and we got in at half-time and knew we had to stick together, to keep believing and we did that.

“They had a few chances, we rode our luck a little, we were very open but we got the goal, a great goal from Gylfi and we got the point.”

The point could turn out to be vital as we bid for a place in the top four. We’re a point behind Arsenal in fourth and three adrift of third-placed Chelsea with two matches remaining – a trip to Stoke on Sunday and the finale against Sunderland at the Lane on Sunday week, May 19.
