Gus on step forward
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Gus Poyet describes winning a point with a good performance at Chelsea as a 'step forward'.
It is a often trotted out fact that we have yet to beat the Blues in the Premiership, but the team had Chelsea on the back foot for a long spell on Saturday and Gus says it was always going to take something special for them to get back in the game.
"We played well and enjoyed it," said Uruguayan midfielder. "Sometimes you don't always look at yourself but at the opposition. It was on their faces, they didn't look happy.
"It needed something special to happen for them and it did with Gianfranco's free-kick - they didn't look like scoring until then.
"Chelsea played a little bit better in the second half, but we still had a chance at the end with Matty.
"It is the feeling as well as the point that was rewarding. The Stamford Bridge players and supporters were not as confident as normal. It was nice.
"We were trying to stop Chelsea playing, but also saying 'let's play'. That 20-25 minutes at the beginning was lovely - I would like to play for 90 minutes like that."
During that opening period Gus had a chance to double our advantage, but his effort was saved by his friend and Chelsea's Carlo Cudicini, whose athletic goalkeeping has now denied us in two games this season.
"I had a chance, but I don't think it was that difficult for Carlo and was a good height for him. His save from Simon was harder and very brave.
"In one way they can say we haven't beaten them in the Premiership, but we can say we didn't lose this year. I think it is one step forward."
