'Great to get the result' - Harry

Tue 04 March 2014, 10:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane put his late chance against Cardiff down to experience – and was delighted we came through Sunday’s test to claim all three points.

The England Under-21 striker was played in by fellow substitute Nacer Chadli in the closing moments of Sunday’s 1-0 win against the Bluebirds, but a fine save from goalkeeper David Marshall denied him the opportunity to put the game fully out of the visitors’ reach.

It was all water under the bridge in the end as Roberto Soldado’s first half strike proved enough to put Cardiff to the sword.

And Harry, who replaced Roberto with nine minutes to go, was thrilled not only with the result – but also for his Spanish front line colleague, who has endured a tough spell in front of goal recently.

“I probably should have scored at the end, but it’s good to get on the pitch and to get into those positions. Obviously I hope to take the next chance,” Harry said.

“These are the games we need to win. Cardiff are fighting against relegation and it’s always going to be a battle against a team in that position. They’re always going to be in your face. But it’s great to get the result and it’s good that we held out for the win.

“It was good for Roberto to get the goal too. Without a doubt it’s given him a boost of confidence and hopefully he can push on and score more goals like everyone knows he can.”
