Gorman targets flying finish

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

John Gorman is determined for us to finish the season on a high — starting against Aston Villa at the Lane on Saturday.

Our assistant manager was full of praise for the youngsters who have performed admirably in recent weeks in the absence of key players through injury.

John said: "We want to finish the season on a high, three games left, starting with a win at home on Saturday.

"It’s another tough one but the young lads are getting experience and they showed at Liverpool what they can do. We will end the season on a positive note because of the way the young lads have responded but it is difficult with so many players out."

John is well aware of the threat of returning Lane hero David Ginola.

"Obviously he’s playing for Aston Villa and there is no doubt he will want to play on Saturday and to turn on the magic," he said. "The fans loved him and he is a quality player.

"He plays on the left side and he will have to play against Stephen Carr, who is looking bright and bubbly after returning from international duty. We will want to keep him quiet."

John reiterated his news from earlier this week that none of our injured players will return this weekend. Les Ferdinand also remains a doubt after suffering a family bereavement last weekend.

John added: "It doesn’t like anyone will be back but we’re waiting for Les Ferdinand.

"He’s done a little bit this week but obviously he’s had a tough time with a family bereavement. We’ll just let him get through it, be with his family and see how it goes.

"The good news was that all the international players came back unscathed and they did well — Leo scored two goals, Gary Doherty set up two and Sully played well for Scotland. That was excellent.

"The four have come back in one piece, which was our concern and we’ve got through training without any further worries.

"The good news is that Mauricio Taricco and Ben Thatcher are training again, they are not ready to play yet, but that is a bonus for the future. Things are looking up."

We are 5/4 to win on Saturday - click for details.
