Gorman seeks a happy return
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
John Gorman insists that our return to Southampton on Saturday is not about 'putting right' our New Year's Day defeat at St Mary's but simply to progress in the FA Cup.
A combination of the fixture computer and the FA Cup third round draw saw to it that we face the same team at the same venue twice in four days right at the end of the hectic festive schedule.
Our results over this period have been a mixed bag, starting particularly well with a fine win over Manchester City at Maine Road, but finishing disappointingly with unfortunate defeats at the hands of Newcastle on Southampton. Inbetween there was the stirring fightback that led to a home draw with Charlton.
Now the Premiership gives way to the Cup for a weekend and we return to the South Coast where the team suffered the unlucky reverse with James Beattie netting the only goal eight minutes from time.
Our assistant boss reasons that the league outcome will count for nothing and that both teams will have eyes only on reaching the fourth round draw.
"It is not about putting it right," stated John. "We want to go through to the next round of the Cup like they do.
"We wanted to be three points ahead of them after the league game, but we're not. We've got to face reality now and win games to get above them. They will have games when it doesn't go for them.
"They are a hard working team that never say die, but we were very unfortunate not to at least get a draw."
