Goran's fate with Faroe Islands

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Goran Bunjevcevic is praying for a World Cup miracle this weekend.

Recovering from a fractured cheekbone, our summer recruit from Red Star Belgrade will watch the final round of qualifying matches with his fingers crossed.

His Yugoslavian team-mates should have few problems in beating a Luxembourg side with a record of played nine, lost nine, scored two, conceded 22 in Group One.

But they need the Faroe Islands to gain a draw of win against unbeaten Slovenia to sneak into the play-offs.

Capped 14 times by Yugoslavia, the cultured defender admitted: “ It’s a bad thing it is not in our hands. If Slovenia beat Faroe Islands we are out.

“But that’s football. You never know. Faroe only lost 1-0 in Russia, we only beat them 2-1 but we need Slovenia to make a big mistake.”

The 27-year-old hasn’t enjoyed the best of luck in representing his country since his big move to the Premiership.

“I have now missed four games,” he explained. “The first a friendly because I wanted to prepare for the start of the Premiership, then my ankle was injured so I missed two important games and now I will miss this one!

“It would be great to play in the World Cup Finals. You never know. We’ll have to see what happens.”
