Goran learning fast
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Goran Bunjevcevic is learning quickly about the English tradition of cup football.
Our Yugoslav international is set to start against Fulham in the Worthington Cup tonight with Dean Richards cup-tied and Ledley King struggling to overcome illness.
If he starts it will be his first big cup tie since his summer switch from Red Star Belgrade.
He admits his only taste of English cup action - as a substitute following Gary Doherty's injury against Torquay in the Worthington Cup - opened his eyes to what the fuss is all about.
"Yes, this is a new thing for me," said 'Bunje'. "I had to come off the bench after Gary's injury against Torquay and I feel that even the Third Division teams can play very well in cup competitions.
"Many people say that the FA Cup is more important than the Worthington Cup but this competition is very important as well, to win it means a place in Europe and of course a cup final as well. That is our target.
"We have a few problems but we are a great squad, 25 players, a great team and we can be confident."
Goran had also had to cope with something new in his football life - injury. Tonight's tie will represent his return to first team action since fracturing his cheekbone against Chelsea in September.
"I have never been injured in my career and it was a test for me," he admitted. "How strong am I? Would I lose confidence not playing for such a long time?
"This was an unusual injury, it took time and I'm just used to playing, playing and playing. Now I get a problem and I was out for two months. It is difficult to come back, I know that now.
"I have had great help at the training ground, from the staff and players and I am not afraid of my role. I'm not afraid to play. I just need the first couple of balls and I should be okay."
