Goran back on national service

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Goran Bunjevcevic is back in the international fold for Yugoslavia with Azerbaijan the next obstacle in Euro 2004 qualification.

International football has been something of a stop-start experience for the versatile Goran in recent times. Since returning from the injuries that dogged him last season, he featured in the first half and the 5-0 friendly defeat to the Czech Republic, missed out on the 1-1 qualifying draw against Italy, was an unused substitute in the 2-0 victory over Finland and was against omitted for the 3-0 friendly reverse against France.

Goran feels, however, that if he is performing regularly for Spurs, the call from his country will come.

"I'm always happy when I am playing for my national team," he said. "Sometimes it is hard, every player thinks that he deserves to be playing and sometimes they call me and sometimes they don't.

"I am pleased to be back in for my country and it is a great honour of course. I know when I play for Spurs and play well I will play for my country."

Euro 2004 qualification appears to be a three-way tussle between Yugoslavia, Italy and Wales - so victory over Azerbaijan is essential.

"It is a game that we have to win and everyone expects it. We are the great favourites, but might have to scrap for the result.

"We are confident that we can beat them, especially at home, and then in the away game. Then we must prepare to face Simon and Wales."
