'Good time to be back' - Ryan

Following a two-month injury setback, Ryan Mason was understandably elated to return to action against AC Milan and has quickly turned his attentions to Saturday’s season opener at Manchester United.
Alongside Nabil Bentaleb, the 24-year-old was a mainstay in our midfield last season but a knee complaint picked up in June saw his preparations for the new campaign hampered.
In Munich this week, Ryan sat out our Audi Cup defeat to Real Madrid but came on as a second half substitute in Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over AC Milan to mark his comeback.
“It’s a good feeling,” he said. “It’s nice to be back out there. Last year I had quite a good season so I wanted to start pre-season, start the first Premier League game and try to keep my place but obviously it’s been frustrating to be on the sidelines lately.
“No-one likes to be injured and I’ve had eight weeks out but not missed any competitive football so you could say it’s a good time to be back!”
Indeed it is. Our trip to Old Trafford to kick-off the Premier League season is just around the corner and Ryan feels victory against Milan means we travel to Manchester on a high.
“It’s important to go into the first game of the season with a win behind us,” he added. “There are no easy games in the Premier League whether you start against a newly promoted club or anyone else because everyone wants to win their first game.
“We’re going to go there confident – we had a disappointing result there last year but hopefully that won’t happen again.”
