Good omens for Ledley
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Ledley King — if fit - will take good omens to Highbury.
Our young midfield prodigy is desperate to shrug off a dead leg sustained on international duty last Friday in time to take the field against Arsenal.
If he is successful he will be looking for a repeat of the 1998 FA Premier Youth League Play-Off Final second leg victory across North London.
We actually won that game 1-0 in front of live television cameras but it was too little, too late — Gunners won the first leg 2-0.
“I remember that one well,” said Ledley. “We actually won that game 1-0 so a result like that would be good. Peter Crouch scored the goal that day but we lost 2-1 overall after losing 2-0 at White Hart Lane. It would be nice to put that right.”
Ledley was working overtime at Spurs Lodge this week to be ready for Saturday.
He added: “It’s one I definitely want to play in and I’m doing everything I can to be ready for it.
“I played in my first Premiership derby earlier in the season. I remember the pace of it more than anything else - it was quicker than any other game I’d played in.
“You want to be involved in these games and I’m looking forward to the next couple of weeks.”
