Good day at the office

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Pat Holland and Jimmy Neighbour displayed contrasting emotions after securing a Tottenham win double over Fulham at Motspur Park on Saturday.

Pat, whose under-19 side registered a 3-1 win, was not entirely satisfied with his team's showing, while Jimmy appeared content after his under-17s romped to a 4-0 victory.

"It wasn't the best of performances I don't think," pondered Pat after the game. "Fulham haven't had a good season, but they were both under-18 sides so you can gage it by that.

"I just think at times we made it a little bit difficult for ourselves. We're trying to get boys forward and get them in the reserves so you want good performances so I can reccommend them to Colin Calderwood. There was one or two to come out, but we can do better than that."

It was put to Pat that he couldn't have been too unhappy with a 3-1 win in a game that his team almost totally bossed.

"I suppose you just aspire to greater things at times and you've got to remember that they are only kids," he reflected. "In training our approach work has been very good, but we lacked a cutting edge out there, getting a man behind and scoring goals.

"We got three goals today, we're just looking for a consistency in our play where we are getting crosses into the box and more of them."

Jimmy was happy to praise his team and, being three up at the break allowed him to offer experience to three under-16 players in the second half.

"We passed the ball well, made a lot of chances and scored four excellent goals," said a satisfied Jimmy. "It's nice for the boys to come away and score four goals.

"I bought three under-16s on. Michael Malcolm up front, little David Hicks has been doing well for the under-16s and Nicky Eyre is an international goalkeeper. He is going away with England next week so I thought I'd give him 20 minutes."

Jimmy went on to explain that, at Academy level, results are not all-important and the purpose is to steer players towards the first team picture.

"People shouldn't look at results really, but unfortunately, it is a fact of life that you do. I think results tend to guide you as to how you're getting on.

"You could have the worst team in the world and lose every game, but if you get three players finish in the first team they end up being a good crop. You could win every game you play and not get a player out of it.

"At the end of the day, we are doing it to try and make footballers for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Of the two groups we've got here at the moment, I think we might get three or four out of it."
