Gomes named SOS Children's Villages Ambassador

Heurelho Gomes has been named the Club's official ambassador to SOS Children's Villages.

Heurelho Gomes has been named the Club's official ambassador to SOS Children's Villages.

The popular goalkeeper will lead on our work with the charity, which will include raising the profile of the Club's relationship with SOS Children's Villages both in the UK and elsewhere around the world.

Gomes said: "For me it is an honour to be asked to take on this role on behalf of the Club. I am very proud to be the Club's ambassador to SOS Children's Villages and I'm thankful for the opportunity to support their work."

Elizabeth Rodgers, Communications Manager SOS Children's Villages added: "We are very appreciative of the support we receive from Tottenham Hotspur and we welcome Gomes as the Club's official ambassador with open arms. He will be a great addition to the SOS Children family and we look forward to working with him in the near future."

SOS Children's Villages has been the Club's official global charity partner since 2007 when a four-year relationship was established.

Much of the Club's work has focussed on South Africa where the Club has financed the construction of the Tottenham Hotspur House in the village of Rustenburg.

The Tottenham Hotspur House is uniquely funded by monies received from players' fines and provides orphaned children in South Africa with a family and home.

SOS Children's Villages currently provide homes for more than 78,000 children in 490 unique Children's Villages in 124 countries.
