Golden oldies

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Les Ferdinand joked about his 'experienced' strike partnership with Teddy Sheringham before declaring: "We'll get better and better."

It has been well documented that the combined age of our front two is 69 - 70 when Les is 35 in December - but they have proved that age means little when the body and mind is in working order.

Sunderland boss Peter Reid admitted that the pair did all the damage in our 2-1 win at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday. And Les explained: "Teddy's experienced, I'm experienced and you're going to get a few people saying 'you can't run anymore' but I think we proved that we've still a lot of running left in us.

"It's working well. I've played with Teddy before at international level but this is a different thing. We're getting to understand each other and that partnership should continue to grow.

"The longer we play together the better that understanding will be, the better the partnership will go.

"We had a chat recently and both felt that we compliment each other's games, the way that we play.

"I like to play on the shoulder of the last defender and Teddy drops off and creates things as much as scoring goals. It combines well the way we play.

"Ted's very clever, drops deep and what he does is give other players opportunities. Since he's come back in he's been excellent - just what we wanted."
Les said all that was missing was a few goals on his Premiership account.

"All I need is a few goals," he added. "I think I'm snapping at a few things but once I get that first one in the league I think I'll be okay."
