Goalscorers Kane, Son and Eriksen react to Swansea win

Sun 04 December 2016, 11:36|Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Christian Eriksen were all understandably in buoyant mood when they stopped to talk us through their goalscoring exploits after Saturday’s 5-0 win over Swansea City at White Hart Lane.

Striker Harry gave us the lead from the penalty spot, with Sonny getting in on the act with an acrobatic finish inside the near post on the stroke of half-time.

Harry doubled his tally soon after the restart, with Christian adding the final two goals to give us a convincing victory.

Here’s what the trio had to say afterwards…

Harry Kane

On the overall outcome
“It was a very good performance. It started a bit slow, we had to be patient, they obviously came to frustrate us and drop off but we moved the ball quicker today, we created a lot of chances, obviously got the first two goals before half-time and then the third straight after. That really gave us the momentum for that second half and we went out there and got the big win.”

On his fourth penalty in five games
“Penalties are chances at the end of the day. Whenever you get opportunities like that, big opportunities, you hope you can take them. I was happy to get that first one today and it really set us up for the rest of the game.”

On looking to complete his treble
“I was itching to get the hat-trick! I had a couple of chances towards the end where the keeper pulled off a good save and then a couple of tired finishes, you could say, but I’m happy with the two goals and the most important thing is the three points.”

On goalscoring form since injury
“I scored two goals in six games before the injury and now I think it’s eight in 11. I’m pleased with the two goals today and hopefully we can get a good run together now, get some wins going and really push up the league.”

Heung-Min Son

On whether his goal was one of his best
“Yes, I think so! As soon as I touched it I thought it was a great feeling, a great strike. I was really, really happy to score again in the Premier League. It was a bit lucky and I was a bit surprised after I shot, but I’m delighted to get the three points.”

On build-up to his goal
“We played very well. First of all, we created the chance for Dele, he played to Christian, he could have played to me but he shot, the ball came to me and I just thought ‘why not shoot?’ – it felt like a great shot and I was really happy when the ball hit the net, I couldn’t believe it!”

On recent mixed results
“I think this is football. We never want to lose, everyone is of the same mind but sometimes you lose and everyone is sad. When we win, we’re all happy. We can celebrate today and until Monday, then we have to think about an important game against CSKA Moscow. We have to be focused and recover well.”

Christian Eriksen

On the goals we scored
“It could have been even more than 5-0. We had the chances – even myself. Sometimes I should have played the better option but we kept going forward and created so many chances that we could have scored a lot more.”

On Sonny’s strike
“First of all, I think I should get the assist! It was a nice goal, nice technique. You have to decide what you have to do in a split-second and he decided to shoot, the goalkeeper wasn’t expecting it and it was a very nice goal. His ability is scoring goals, he’s very good at it and he’s always in good positions to score goals.”

On the desire to go on another winning run
“There always has been that feeling. After a win you always get more confident, you want to go for it and keep going. Now we’ve kicked off with a good start to December and hopefully it will be a good month.”

On CSKA Moscow match in the Champions League on Wednesday
“We haven’t won yet at Wembley, we want to finish with a win and give something back to the fans – and take something for us as well by getting those three points.”
