Goals ahead for Armstrong

English Barclays Premiership

Chris Armstrong is convinced he has a few more goals left in his locker at White Hart Lane.

The arrival of Sergei Rebrov immediately cast doubts over the striker's future at the club - especially when he was linked with a move to Leicester City - but manager George Graham insisted at Rebrov and Sullivan's unveiling that Armstrong was very much still part of his plans.

Armstrong has certainly not considered a future outside N17, declaring: "I've still two years left on my contract at Tottenham, I'm happy, settled and enjoy it here. I'd like to think I can still do well here.

"I'm still confident I can do a good job here, especially if I remain fit. I still have a few goals left in me yet."

The 29-year-old is certainly preparing for the August kick-off in a positive frame of mind. He finished last season with a spell of nine goals in 13 games and more importantly for a player who has suffered such ill luck with injuries, he has a clean bill of health going into pre-season.

"I feel better going into this pre-season than I have for a while," he admitted. "Last season I was struggling and didn't play until September. It's vital to be fit. If you miss the pre-season training it is very hard to catch up."
