Glenn's tribute to super Si

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle paid tribute to Simon Davies for returning from international duty with his feet planted firmly on the ground.

Simon was the star turn for Wales in their superb Euro 2004 qualifying victory over Italy in Cardiff last Wednesday, scoring an excellent opening goal in the 2-1 win.

He also netted for his country in their previous two outings against Croatia and Finland.

To put an added gloss on a memorable week for the midfield starlet, Simon scored our third against Bolton to kill off a spirited challenge from the Reebok Stadium outfit.

"Simon is playing with bundles of confidence," reflected Glenn. "He played superbly on Wednesday and, what he does do, and what I like about Simon, is that he comes back from international duty and takes nothing for granted.

"He just comes back and continues his form and I think that shows an excellent temperament.

"He put a lot of energy in against Bolton, was cute at times and ended up killing the game off. We should have killed it off before, but Simon's popped up with an excellent goal for us.

"There is no ego about Simon. He is a level-headed lad who keeps his feet on the ground. He's had a good upbringing and we'd like to feel we are helping him along as a player.

"He's got a smashing temperament and he's not going to get carried away. I've seen it with youngsters before where perhaps they don't realise their potential if they don't have a bit of realism about themselves and their football.

"Simon hasn't shown a glimmer of that - he want to just improve and keep playing well."
