Glenn's dismay at Perry red
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn Hoddle couldn't hide his disappointment after Chris Perry was controversially sent off in Saturday's defeat at Middlesbrough.
The defender received a straight red card from referee Uriah Rennie following a challenge with Szilard Nemeth.
But the incident appeared to take place outside the box, there appeared to be little contact and Nemeth had lost control of the ball.
Nevertheless, the penalty was awarded, Juninho scored and we were down to 10 men and 2-0 down. It was soon 3-0 and ended 5-1.
A shellshocked Glenn said afterwards: "The referee had a key moment for the way the result went. It's never a penalty.
"He's got to use his assistant because there is inconsistency there at the moment - some refs don't do anything, some give a yellow card, some are too quick to get the red out.
But it was clearly not a penalty and we had to suffer."
"We had chances early on, didn't take them and then slipped 1-0 behind. In the second half we didn't work hard enough and didn't defend as solidly as I would have liked but the circumstances today, apart from the first goal, were totally out of our hands."
