Glenn's dare

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle revealed that he 'dared' the players at half-time not to go out and secure the three points against Sunderland.

The boss admitted he wasn't satisfied with our display in the first half despite a 2-1 interval lead and the lads responded with a fine second half to run out comfortable 4-1 winners.

"It was a strange game," reflected Glenn. "We asked the lads to be ruthless and we started well, bright, lovely football, got our noses in front but after our goal was the worst period of the game for us.

"For my liking, for a team bottom of the league, on our patch, Sunderland had far too much possession, far too many corners and far too many opportunities where something might have happened.

"We got a good second goal, I was pleased for Doc and it was nice timing for us, but there had to be some harsh words at half-time.

"Although we were winning the performance wasn't what we needed.

"I dared the lads not to come back in with the three points and they responded - the back four started to be aggressive and dominate, the midfield started to dominate and pass the ball well, we had better movement and a desire to go and win the game.

"Once we had that and went into another couple of gears it was too much for Sunderland on the day. It was an enjoyable afternoon in the end."
