Glenn's clinical call

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle says a lack of cutting edge in front of goal and mistakes at the back are the root cause of our recent run of results.

The Charlton defeat illustrated Glenn's reasoning, as Gus Poyet was denied a goal on at least two occasions and one mistake at the back saw the points head to the Valley.

"Games at this level are decided in the penalty area," reflected Glenn. "We had two great chances, they went up the other end and we gifted them a goal. That is my assessment of the game.

"It would be even more of a concern if we weren't creating any. What sickens me is that we're creating them but not scoring. At the moment I don't know what we've got to do to get a goal.

"We've hit the bar and its come out, there were opportunities going begging there that could have buried the game for us and won it. The same as last month, but it hasn't happened for whatever reason.

"We've got to be more clinical."

Glenn added that wholesale team changes are not on the cards as he simply does not have the options open to him at present.

"With the squad we've got, it's not going to be fresh players coming in because, quite frankly, we haven't got them at the moment. They are still on their way back from injury.

"What we need to do is defend better as a team - from the front right the way through to the back. It's what we haven't done since Christmas and it's something we've got to put right.

"If it means not playing as nice football at times then so be it - we want to pick up points.

"We're still creating, but what we're not doing is defending it right.

"I've had bigger tests than this. Yes we're in a sticky patch, but that's happened to lots of teams and we've got to work our way through it."
