Glenn: We've earned fortune
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn Hoddle inistsed that we'd earned the slice of luck and good fortune at Fulham that will, hopefully, kick-start the rest of our season.
Teddy Sheringham was the grateful recipient as Christian Ziege's free-kick was deflected off Fulham's defensive wall, onto the striker's forehead and home for the opening goal in oyur 2-0 Premiership win at Craven Cottage.
Gus Poyet struck the second minutes later and a gritty defensive performance made sure we ended our disappointing recent run - and kept alive hopes of finishing in the top seven.
The boss said: "We earned the good fortune with our hard work and we haven't had any luck over the last five or six weeks.
"There's a statistic going around saying we've hit the woodwork 16 times this year - so it's time we've had some good fortune.
"Teddy was going to take it and decided the angle wasn't right for him so he just drifted into the box.
"He didn't know too much about it but you earn your luck sometimes with the hard work you put in."
Glenn was quick to praise the defence and the role of Tim Sherwood - named man-of-the-match by Sky Sports - just in front of the new-look back four.
He continued: "I thought Fulham would take a risk but we defended very well.
"You would expect them to throw a lot of bodies forward. They played three up front and our back four did very well with Tim Sherwood sweeping just in front of them.
"I thought we defended very well - but we should have tied the game up when Steffen Iversen went through early in the second half."
Meanwhile, Glenn refused to rule out competing in Europe next season, adding: "Europe is still mathematically possible, but we've got to go on a very good run."
