Glenn: Simon can hold head high

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Simon Davies was naturally distraught after his controversial red card at Arsenal - but Glenn Hoddle said he could walk out of Highbury 'with his head held high'.

The Welsh starlet suffered the first sending off - at any level - of his career in a Premiership derby to forget.

Television replays have proved that the midfielder made no contact with Ashley Cole in an incident that led to his first yellow card from referee Mike Riley.

Only 26 minutes had gone when he was sent off for a second booking, this time after just catching Patrick Vieira as they went in for a 50-50 challenge.

Already 1-0 down, it left us with an uphill battle and the home side eventually ran out 3-0 winners.

"He's a young lad and he's been doing fantastic for us," reflected Glenn afterwards. "He's scratching his head, baffled as to where he got the first booking from and even the second one.

"Okay, that was more of a 50-50 and people will have their own opinions on it but I've watched it and they both get a bit of the ball.

"But, as I've said, all we can do is appeal and see if we can get it turned over.

"He's seen the highs and lows now and that is all part of football. But he's done nothing wrong, the boy, absolutely nothing, and he can go with his head held high."
