Glenn relishing tough test

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle is relishing the challenge of having to steer the squad through some stormy waters at present.

We kick-off our FA Cup campaign at Coventry City tonight robbed of at least three players who have been regulars in the starting line-up.

Steffen Freund (cruciate knee ligament) is out for some time after sustaining a nasty injury against Chelsea last week, Christian Ziege (knee) also misses out after hobbling off at Ipswich on Saturday and Teddy Sheringham serves the last of his three-match ban.

With games coming thick and fast - including the two-legged Worthington Cup semi-final against Chelsea, the second leg at the Lane next week - it is a real test of Glenn, his management team and the squad.

"Yes, it's a test at the moment, a challenge, but I like challenges," insisted Glenn.

"I've had to make some tough decisions about team selections, it's been frustrating the way we've played and not won, but we'll keep head down into the wind and keep battling away as a team, players and management.

"I'm sure we'll get back on the rails again. I'm positive about that."

We've suffered four defeats in our last six games but Glenn pointed out that a rocky spell is not uncommon in the Premiership this season.

He explained: "If you look at the season, every club has had problems. We're not the only one.

"Teams have had problems in getting consistent results.

"Leeds were very consistent at the start of the season and went top of the league. Liverpool were consistent and did the same and were 14 points clear of United, now United have hit form.

"We're not the only team who has had an inconsistent patch, everyone has. The reasons we've had that patch is a disjointment to the squad and we have to overcome that."
