Glenn paid full credit to Torquay after we secured a place in the next round of the Worthington Cup, admitting that the Gulls were the better team in the first half.
The West Country side fully extended the boys and it took Ledley King’s opener on the hour mark to settle home nerves.
“Torquay, you’ve got to give them credit, in the first half they were the better team,” reflected Glenn. “They hit the bar and we could have come in one down.”
Glenn revealed that he was forced to reshuffle the pack at half time and that there were a few words to rouse the troops.
“We changed the shape a little bit and, yes, there were a few stern words. Then we came out and played like I know we can play.
“We got the goals, cup football is tough sometimes — Everton and Sunderland will tell you that.
“We’re still in the cup, in the hat, that’s what it’s about cup football.
“There were a lot of things I wasn’t happy about, but there were some good things I saw in the second half.”
A major plus point for Glenn was an opening goal of the season for Les Ferdinand — the first by one of our first team strikers this campaign.
“Les got off the mark. I was going to rest him, but I felt he hadn’t played that many games this season. He got a bit of a knock on Sunday so was a bit of a risk, but it was one worth taking because he got off the mark. And that’s exactly what we wanted to do — we whipped him off as soon as he did that.
“He had a stiffened thigh because he got a bit of a dead leg on Sunday and he didn’t really train until this morning. It’s worked out not too bad and he should be okay for Sunday.”
