Glenn on victory
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn Hoddle admitted after victory over Bradford that putting the weekend misery behind them was paramount — and not easy.
"This was all about bouncing back after the weekend and the lads showed a lot of character," said Glenn, whose job it was lift the doom and prepare straight away for Premiership combat.
"Of course, it’s human nature, you get knocked-out in a semi-final and you’re bitterly disappointed and then you get one rest day then another game. Physically they were tired, mentally they were tired so this was a good result for us under them circumstances and it’s good for me to start with a win here at White Hart Lane."
Glenn appeared satisfied with the team’s performance and confirmed that there was a tactical re-shuffle to deal with Bradford’s permanent three-pronged attack. Bradford boss Jim Jefferies said it was his team’s best showing since his arrival.
Glenn added: "At times in the first half I was happy, you’ve got to look at the saves their goalkeeper made. They came here and played with freedom, there was no fear in their game.
"There’s room for improvement of course, but I saw good performances from Steffen Iversen, clever things from Simon Davies and Stephen Carr. So there was some good performances out there from us. There were a lot of plusses from the performance."
"It was a nice feeling," said Glenn on his long-awaited return to the Lane. "It’s a fantastic stadium here now, it’s changed a lot since I played and it was a nice feeling. The idea for me is to get the 35,000 in every week and get the success that they are looking for."
