Glenn feels that the teams chasing European places are forming something of a mini-league - with Wednesday's opponents Newcastle currently sitting on top.
The outcome of Tuesday night's encounters only increase the magnitude of the game, with the three teams in the chasing pack all winning.
Southampton climbed back to sixth following their 1-0 win at Sunderland, Everton cemented fifth place by winning 2-1 at Bolton and Chelsea came from behind to beat Leeds 3-2 at Stamford Bridge to close the gap on Newcastle in third to one point.
A win over the Magpies would see us go sixth or seventh - depending on the outcome of Liverpool against Arsenal at Anfield. So with Chelsea coming up on Saturday it is all there to play for.
"There is a bit of a mini-league going on and Newcastle are top of it," reasoned Glenn. "If we beat them we go four points behind them.
"We've got Chelsea away after Newcastle and they are in that league as well. These are two big games for us this week."
Glenn added that, with Newcastle an outfit designed to attack, the best way to counter this threat is to concentrate on our own attacking intent.
"Newcastle are a smashing side, we had a really good game at St James, where I felt we played very well. We caused them a lot of problems in the first half.
"You know they will cause you problems with Shearer and Bellamy - they are very talented players. They've got offensive players in midfield as well - Dyer, Jenas, Robert and Solano - they very much try to attack you.
"In saying that, we are an attacking side and we are at home. The best way of playing them possibly is attacking them yourself. If you can keep the ball well and keep it away from them it is probably the best line of defence.
"I think it will be a good open game of football. It will be the first night game we've had here for a while and I always feel there is added atmosphere in a night game.
"It will be a full house and our crowd needs to really get behind us from the start. That would lift us and make us go to that next level that might be needed to win the three points.
"If we win we go to a good position."
