Glenn on Sol

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle insists he intends to thrash out a new deal with Sol Campbell - despite Friday morning speculation linking him with a mega-money move to Barcelona.

The Mirror's back page lead links the big man - out for the season with ankle ligament damage - with a £100,000-per-week deal with the Spanish giants.

But Glenn has said all along he wants to keep the player he has described as the club's 'colossus' and reitterated those intentions when giving an update on his injury.

"Sol still has problems with the right ankle but if the specialist can give him the all clear to go away for 10 days, to have a break, that will be the best thing for him," said Glenn.

"It would be good just to get away from football, clear his head and then, when he comes back, we're going to sit down and thrash out the nuts and bolts of a contract."

Glenn also revealed that Darren Anderton had undergone a successful operation on his Achilles injury in Amerca - and that the midfielder was very much part of his new era at the Lane.

He said: "Darren has had a good operation in America, it's gone very, very well. He's very positive and he wants to sign. I've spoken to him, we want to keep him and he is very much in my plans."

Speculation continues to mount with the club linked again with a move for Manchester United striker and double Player of the Year, ex-Spur Teddy Sheringham.

Glenn added: "We've identified players that we would like to bring to the club.

"There is a secondary list to that as well. We're well on our way and I just think if we get a little luck, progress things and sign a few of these players, then I'll be happy for the start of next season."
