Glenn on O'Neill effect

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn is quick to praise the magnificent turn-around at Celtic sparked by the arrival of Martin O'Neill, ahead of the Scottish Champions' visit to the Lane on Wednesday evening.

Celtic fans endured nine-in-a-row title wins by Rangers before Dutchman Wim Jansen provided the relief in preventing their city rivals from reaching the elusive ten. Jansen's stay was short-lived and former Aston Villa boss Dr Joseph Venglos could not prevent the title heading to Ibrox again.

The return of Kenny Dalglish along with head coach John Barnes failed to wrestle the championship back, but then came the appointment that transformed the Glasgow pecking order.

For many years stoically loyal to Leicester City, boyhood Celtic fan O'Neill could not resist the lure of restoring the fortunes of one of Britain's biggest clubs - and transform them he did.

The title count is up to two-in-a-row and is showing no signs of veering off course.

"It is a fantastic job that he's done and he justly deserves all the praise and credit he's been given," said Glenn.

"He's cracked the hold that Rangers had on the Scottish League and now, perhaps, he's going to create a stranglehold himself."

Celtic have earned themselves a reputation over the years for the gusto in which they approach pre-season games south of the border. Glenn feels that the spotlight Celtic operate under and the demands of a huge travelling support is the reason why.

He also suspects that the trip to White Hart Lane will be used as preparation for their forthcoming Champions League campaign.

"You've got to realise that if they bring something like 10,000 fans with them - they are not going to go out for a stroll, are they?

"They're always going to have to perform in that atmosphere and with those demands.

"As I said, I think they are using it as a European experiment to play top teams from outside of their country so they can acclimatise and do better in Europe - which is one thing they've got to do."
