Glenn on Acimovic

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle has likened Milenko Acimovic's playing style to Trevor Brooking and insists his arrival is part of 'the bigger picture'.

The Slovenian international midfielder will join us from Red Star Belgrade on a four-year contract once work permit formalities are concluded.

"He's a very, very good player," said Glenn. "We're delighted. He's on a Bosman and we've been watching and monitoring him for some time, been across to see him and watched lots and lots of tapes.

"He virtually got Slovenia to the World Cup on his own. He scored four goals in qualifying games and that is terrific against good opposition.

"He is a very creative player from midfield and at 24 years of age he's one for the future for us.

"Fans at the moment won't know much about him but they'll take to him.

"He has a little bit of the style of Trevor Brooking in that he rides challenges, he's strong on the ball and gets in and score goals.

"All in all it's a very positive move. The good thing about it is that he wanted to come to Tottenham, wanted to come here and work with us and wanted to link up again with Goran Bunjevcevic, who he played with at Red Star. That will help Goran as well."

With Jamie Redknapp already on board, Glenn's plans for next season and beyond appear to be taking shape nicely.

He added: "We've brought in Jamie as well and done some shrewd business with both of them, both free transfers and they are quality players that will hopefully take us up to the next step.

"Milenko's a level-headed lad, wants to learn and he's one with an eye on the future.

"It's pretty obvious what we went for this season with Teddy and Gus and that's worked out well - they've been our most consistent players.

"But we need to look at the bigger picture and we are starting to do that."
