Glenn: It feels like I haven't started
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn Hoddle admits he feels like he’s yet to get started at Spurs.
Our new boss has been in charge for almost a month but his early days have been blighted with injuries and he has yet to work with half his squad.
He was already without Ben Thatcher, Mauricio Taricco, Darren Anderton, Steffen Freund and Chris Armstrong before his first game in charge and within 10 days he lost Sol Campbell, Chris Perry, Steffen Iversen, Sergei Rebrov and Ledley King.
Glenn pointed out: “Every game since I’ve come here has been a tough one because we’re out on a limb with the squad.
“We’re throwing people in who are not experienced at this level against this opposition. We’re gaining things from it though, even if we’ve lost games.
“We’re gaining for next season but to a certain degree I don’t feel as if my job has started here.
“I won’t feel like that until next season and that has been a frustration for me but one I’ve had to deal with.
“We’ve got a very good team in the treatment room. That is a concern and that will not change between now and the end of the season.
“But we’ll get on with it and play these youngsters and see how they cope.”
One player we will have to cope with on Saturday is the return of Lane hero David Ginola with Villa.
Glenn added: “David hasn’t been playing regularly for Villa but he has come into some good form when he has played.
“Obviously Spurs fans have a strong feeling for David and rightly so with the talent he’s got and having showed them what he can do week in, week out.
“It will be a special day for him but we have to make sure we go out there and put a performance on ourselves. That’s our main concern.”
