Glenn hopes for good news

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

Glenn Hoddle is hoping for good news out from treatment room this week after further injury worries at Highbury.

Ledley King's Achilles problem forced him off at half-time while Steffen Iversen lasted only seven minutes longer after sustaining a dead leg at the end of the first half.

Glenn reported: "Ledley played with a slight Achilles problem. He missed the last game with that one and it stiffened up at bit and we had to change it.

"We tried Steffen in the second half but he has a very big haematoma to the thigh so that was a problem.

"That wasn't good for us because we needed Steffen in good shape. He's in good form for us and it was difficult to lose him."

Neil Sullivan failed to make it at the weekend and Ben Thatcher was an unused substitute after being laid low with a virus.

With Stephen Carr, Steffen Freund and Les Ferdinand out for the season and Goran Bunjevcevic still struggling with a knee problem, the boss would welcome any positive news.

"We're down to our barest bones at the moment," explained Glenn. "At least we haven't got a midweek game and we can make sure we try to get some out of the treatment room if we can."

Better news saw Gary Doherty, Stephen Clemence, Oyvind Leonhardsen and Chris Armstrong back in reserve action last week and all four are expected to start again for the second string against Fulham on Wednesday.

Midfielder 'Clem' was in the squad at Arsenal and has already appeared, albeit briefly, as a substitute against Leeds United and Gary Doherty may be next in line for a first-team recall.

Asked about that at Highbury, Glenn replied: "Gary needs more match practice. He's fit but not match fit. He's had three reserve games but he's way off this tempo and this level at the moment."
