Glenn gutted to miss out
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn Hoddle admitted he was 'absolutely gutted' to miss out on the action in last night's fantastic Tottenham Tribute Match.
Without doubt one of the greatest playing legends of them all, first team boss Glenn had to settle for watching Klinsmann, Ginola, Gascoigne, Waddle and the Allens strutting their stuff from the dug-out after failing to overcome a hamstring problem.
American MLS opponents DC United impressed throughout and won the game with a late strike from Wade Barratt.
"I'm gutted, absolutely gutted that I couldn't be out there but I've a hamstring problem," explained Glenn. "I'm a bit disappointed but there you go, that's life.
"It's great to see the players coming back, to see Jurgen and Teddy team up again, obviously Gazza, Chrissie Waddle, David Ginola, Paul and Clive Allen and there was a lovely balance with a couple of youngsters playing as well. And I can't forget Colin Calderwood - the star of the second half!"
Glenn knows all about what the history of the club means and was naturally fully behind the real cause of the match - to raise funds for our former players.
He added: "I think we're the first club to have done it and it's a magnificent idea from the board. We spoke about it in our meetings and sometimes you come up with ideas and they don't come to fruition, but this is great.
"The club has history and that history is the success of the club. That success comes from players and supporters and everyone else involved. It's great we can give something back."
