Glenn follows Liverpool lead
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn says that the Liverpool model for trophy winning is the perfect answer to doubters of the value of Worthington Cup success.
Liverpool overcoming Birmingham in Cardiff last season proved to be a springboard for the Merseysiders to go on and lift five trophies in six months. It was a case of acquiring the habit of winning big games, getting the taste for silverware.
Glenn is happy to adopt that recipe and is not concerned by other clubs' approach to the competition.
"If you cast your minds back to Cardiff, Liverpool hadn't won a trophy for a while, and if you look at the way their fans reacted and their club reacted when they did win it and what happened afterwards - it was a stepping stone for something else," said Glenn.
"Looking back, if they had lost that - which they very nearly did - they might have had a different season.
"So it's very high for us. It's now three games to play if successful in the semi-final - three games away from getting into Europe. We've got to look at it that way.
"They'll be massive, massive games for us.
"It's been high on our agenda since the start of the season, the decision of other clubs on it is up to them. You can get into Europe, so yes it was always going to be something we were going to take very, very seriously."
Asked about the long-term prospects for the competition, Glenn feels that the introduction of Scottish clubs would give it a lift.
"It probably needs at this time to be slightly higher profile. That can probably be done by the Scottish sides coming to join us in the Worthington Cup. If you make it a British Cup it would have higher prestige.
"But while it's still got European football at the end of it, that is the difference for us."
