Glenn delight for Roeder
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Glenn has expressed his delight that his great friend and former colleague Glenn Roeder appears to have overcome a period of great pressure and quietened a great number of critics.
The knives were out for the new West Ham boss earlier in the campaign as his team struggled for a win. He was tipped by many reporters to be first in line for the chop but, despite a great number of managerial departures, Roeder is still in place and Hammers fortunes are on the up.
Three successive wins eased the pressure on the former Watford manager, a run that lifted the Eastenders out of the lower reaches of the table.
"He did suffer some pressure - and it was unjustifiably so," said Glenn. "The bottom line is that this Premiership is so condensed, the points are so condensed and Glenn proved if you put three wins together, bang, nine points. It was a big change around for him.
"He was going for his fourth straight win at home to Fulham and it went the other way and that's football."
Glenn is meeting socially with Roeder after Saturday's encounter and he feels that the Hammers have chosen the right man and that it will be proved in the long run.
"I'm delighted to see that he is turning it around, he is smashing guy. We're actually going out for a meal after the game at a friend's house with John - so that's how close we are to him.
"He worked very well for me as a scout and coach for England and I was delighted to see him get the job. I think in the long term he is going to prove a very good manager for West Ham.
"Obviously I don't want him to do well on Saturday or in the return game at White Hart Lane. But, all in all, I would like him to do well because we've got mutual respect."
