David Ginola swept the board at the club's successful Golf Day on Wednesday. The Frenchman, every bit as flamboyant off the tee as on the left wing, completed a double in the event at the impressive surroundings of Epping Forest Golf and Country Club.
A 13-handicapper, Ginola scored 42 stableford points to take the individual glory and lead his team - Laurens Patisserie - to the day's main prize. Ginola beat Bernard Fay by three points to take the solo honours while Stephen Clemence, a 16-handicapper, was third on 38 points.
In one of the day's surprises striker Chris Armstrong, a maximum 28-handicapper, helped his team - Intec Sellular Services - to second place overall.
Ian Walker, Neil Sullivan, Chris Perry, Matthew Etherington, Ruel Fox, Les Ferdinand, Darren Anderton, Tim Sherwood, Willem Korsten, Ramon Vega, Mark Gower, goalkeeping coaches Hans Segers, Pat Jennings and assistant manager Stewart Houston were among those to tee off.
Event organiser and the club's commercial manager Mike Rollo enthused: "This was the first time the club has organised an event like this and it was such a success, I feel sure it will be an annual occasion."
