George's cup of joy

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

George Graham is hoping we can take inspiration from our last-gasp FA Cup win at Leyton Orient.

Gary Doherty headed home the only goal in the second minute of injury time to book our place in the fourth round and secure our first away win of the season.

George said: “We've won an away match and it is about time. We've also shown ourselves the way to do it.

“You can't get the ball down and stroke it around when teams hustle you like Orient did. You just have to dig in a bit more and that's what we've got to keep doing.

“It was a welcome victory. We needed a bit of good fortune and hopefully this will lead us to better things away from home.”

George was quick to praise the battling Third Division outfit.

He added: “We got what we expected and that was a tough game and I thought Orient started very brightly. We then came into it more after that, had a goal disallowed which was a bit harsh and hit the post and bar.

“I can see from Orient's point of view that they might have deserved a draw. They certainly played their part in a good, hard tie and could have probably done with their share of the gate from a replay.

“Our keeper Neil Sullivan had only one direct shot to save I think, but Orient's strikers put us under a lot of physical pressure and I couldn't have denied them a draw if they had managed it.

“We knew this wouldn't be easy. Playing against lower division teams in the FA Cup never is.”
