George's balancing act
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
George Graham is striving to strike the right balance on our travels.
Bradford City’s late comeback at the weekend foiled our latest attempt to record a first away victory in the Premiership this season.
At least we halted a sequence of seven straight defeats on the road with the 3-3 draw at Valley Parade and our away record now reads two draws and seven defeats in nine matches.
It could and arguably should have been more though as we looked in charge at 3-1 inside the final half-hour. But having dictated possession-wise we then sat back somewhat as City bombarded us and the Yorkshire outfit eventually deserved their last-minute equaliser.
Boss George stated: “Probably the word is balance. We’ve got to get the balance of going forward which the Spurs fans like both home and away, scoring goals and then we’ve got to learn when the opposition have it, to defend much better.
“We looked nice and comfortable in the first half. When we got the third goal in the second half the tempo to our game changed and perhaps we thought we’d just defend it.
“We did well going forward and I thought Les Ferdinand was outstanding, one of our best players. We’ve still got to go forward but we’ve got to defend better.
“When you are 3-1 up away from home in the second half you’ve got to win the game. There are no excuses.”
He then added: “That’s the second time we’ve been to Yorkshire and we’ve scored six goals and got one point. We lost 4-3 at Leeds and now drawn 3-3, so we’re definitely improving.”
