George: 'Too many agendas'

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

George Graham says his players have been affected by ‘too many agendas’ at the club in recent weeks.

Boss George cited constant speculation over his own future, contracts and the current takeover by ENIC taking the spotlight away from what is going on on the pitch.

He was therefore delighted with his side’s current run of form — eight matches unbeaten this year — and the first away win in the Premiership this season at Manchester City on Saturday.

George said: “The problem at Tottenham is that there are too many agendas.

“The talk is about contracts, bringing in a new manager, a takeover, now a court case — we should be focused on football.

“That’s what I’ve told the players and the staff, we’ve got to concentrate on the job in hand and that’s playing football and let all the other things look after themselves. This season has been very bad for that.

“We’re here to play football and we have to stay focussed on that and not worry about all the other side issues.

“I think the players have been affected but they’ve come through it and done very well.”

George has been left frustrated by the negative tilt on the club over recent weeks when, as he points out, we have now gone eight matches unbeaten since the disaster at Ipswich Town on December 30.

He added: “We’ve been under the spotlight in recent weeks, unfairly in my opinion, and I think we’ve clawed our way back.

“We’ve dug in when we’ve had to dig in and once we get all our players back there is no reason why we can’t push up that league.”
