George to stick with kids?
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
George Graham has given a broad hint that he’ll stick with our young guns for the ultimate test in the Premiership on Saturday.
The introduction of 20-year-olds Ledley King and Alton Thelwell has coincided with successive wins against Liverpool and Leicester City and has lifted the club as a whole.
Boss George said: “It will be a great experience for the young boys at Old Trafford — Alton Thelwell, Ledley King, it will be fantastic for them. It’s a great learning process.
“I think too quickly Spurs fans look at the negative things when there are a lot of positive things happening. One of those things is the emergence of the youngsters.
“In the Leicester game we had five players who had come through the youth policy. Apart from Manchester United and Leeds there are very few clubs who can say that.
“I’m just happy with the way we’ve answered our recent critics, the way we’ve come through two potentially very difficult games against Liverpool and Leicester, who were both in the top six and I don’t think many people would have thought that we would have won those two games. But we got maximum points from those games and that has really pushed us up there.
“There is still loads of work to be done, loads of work, but we’re on the right track.”
Last week’s hat-trick hero Les Ferdinand and Darren Anderton have overcome bouts of flu so the main doubts are Sergei Rebrov (thigh) and Chris Perry (ankle.
The news is good on both Steffen Iversen (knee) and Oyvind Leonhardsen but Mauricio Taricco (groin) and Luke Young (broken foot) remain out.
George added: “Steffen and Leo are very close and it will be great to have those two back again but Mauricio Taricco is still a little while away.
“It’s looking good again. I just hope it’s going to be a different second half of the season to last season, when we dipped dramatically. Why not do the opposite and push onwards and upwards this season?”
