George stands by Sergei
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
George Graham says he will continue to back Sergei Rebrov to the hilt.
The Ukrainian’s form came under the spotlight at Friday’s pre-match press conference with the assembled media questioning how long boss George would be patient with the £11m man.
George insisted that he would have liked to have rested the former Dynamo Kiev star but injuries to front men have forced his hand.
George explained: “Sergei is still coming to terms with the English game, there is no question about that.
“I’m not surprised it’s taken him time to adapt. The same thing happened to some of the Arsenal boys in the past.
“The sad thing is the injuries haven’t helped because otherwise we could have rested him on certain occasions and there wouldn’t be so much pressure on him.
“It would have helped to rest him, it relieves the pressure. We needed someone to take the physical side off of Sergei and that’s why we out to get the boy Booth.
“Everyone is looking at him and saying ‘come on, deliver the goods’ and because the strength in depth is not up to scratch there is more pressure on him.
“When we get the other boys back he may form a relationship with Iversen or Les or Chrissie Armstrong, who knows?
“He is a class player. When I saw him in the Champions’ League he was class and I’ll continue to be patient with him."
