George on loan capture

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

George Graham says he is delighted to have Andy Booth on board for a month.

The target man joined us on loan from Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday to help cover for injured strikers Les Ferdinand, Chris Armstrong and Steffen Iversen.

He registered in time to make his debut at West Ham on Wednesday night.

Boss George declared: "I know Andy is a whole-hearted lad, a front player, a big lad, good in the air, with a tremendous attitude.

"I’m delighted we could get someone like him because it is difficult to get a loan player.

"You have to realise that you can’t go into the Premiership so he has to come from abroad or from the lower divisions.

"I thought it would be better if we took someone we knew and David Pleat knows him from old as well. I’m sure he’ll do a good job for us in the next few weeks.

"Hopefully he’ll hold the ball up for us well and his attitude has always been first class. I’d like to see him do well because it will be good for Tottenham and good for the boy as well."

George pointed out that the nature of the deal simply underlined our problems with injury.

"It represents the injuries to our strikers," he added. "Steffen Iversen has had an operation and has only played a handful of games this season but he should be back within the next month.

"Les Ferdinand, who was having a fantastic time and looking back to his old self again, has a hamstring problem but again, hopefully he’ll also be back within the month.

"Chris Armstrong is still a mystery with his groin problem and even Sergei Rebrov has struggled with a flu virus.

"With our schedule over the next few weeks quite intense we decided to try and get someone in just to tide us over until these players come back."
