George on Hoddle

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

George Graham insists he’s not bothered by the constant speculation linking Glenn Hoddle to his job at the Lane.

That speculation usually comes to the fore when we meet Hoddle’s Southampton side and that is the case again on Saturday.

Boss George declared: “It doesn’t bother me. It’s like Kenny Dalglish taking a team to Anfield or George Graham taking Leeds or Tottenham to Highbury, it’s the way of the world, ex-players taking a different club back their old hunting ground. It’s part of the game.

“Obviously Glenn coming back to White Hart Lane is always an occasion because he is one of the icons and heroes of Spurs as a player.”

George was full of praise for Hoddle. “I’ve seen Southampton a few times this season. They are big, strong and organised and picking up some good results.

“Glenn has done very well and there are a few domestic managers this season who have done excellently.

“I think sometimes we over-hype the foreign managers. Just look at the results from the likes of Peter Taylor, George Burley, Alan Curbishley, they’ve done magnificently. It’s about time someone blew their trumpets.

“There are a lot of good domestic managers, up and coming, young, ambitious putting in a lot of good groundwork towards their careers, working on low budgets.

“It’s time we blew their trumpets and I’d be the first to do it.”
