George eyes Stockport prize

Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).

George Graham has a one-track mind ahead of Wednesday night’s crucial FA Cup tie at Charlton.

We travel to the Valley in the fourth round with the prize for the winners a home tie against Stockport County for a place in the quarter-finals.

Players and pundits alike expect it to be a similar encounter to Saturday’s goalless draw between the sides in the Premiership — our fifth clean sheet and fourth 0-0 draw on the trot.

Boss George agrees. "If we were playing free-flowing football and scoring lots of goals anything could happen. But I don’t see it being anything but tight and the most important thing in the Cup is to get through.

"It’s a big game for us and if we get through we have Stockport in the next round at home. It makes a change for us to be the underdogs, going to Charlton, but we’re on a run of six undefeated matches this year.

"It’s the best run we’ve had and that is fielding a team way under strength. People have to take that into consideration."

Goals have been the problem but George is boosted by the return from injury of Chris Armstrong and creative wing-back Stephen Carr.

George added: "I’ve never been one to moan about injuries as badly as other managers but it’s not an excuse — it’s the reason why we are not scoring goals.

"All our strikers have been injured apart from Rebrov. That’s fact. If anyone is complaining about that, fine, but that is fact.

"I’ve got to look at the positives and they are that this is our best run of the season, we’re not conceding goals and looking nice and strong at the back, strong in midfield without maybe being over-creative and we have to make sure that if we do have a problem scoring goals the problem stays in the attacking third of the pitch and doesn’t escalate into midfield or defence."
