Gareth aims to maintain the City spirit

Gareth Bale hopes to take the momentum of Sunday’s fine win against City into another crucial Premier League clash at Wigan on Saturday.

The flying Welshman scored the third goal of a three-goal spree in seven minutes that turned a 1-0 deficit against last season’s champions into a memorable 3-1 win at White Hart Lane.

There was a tidal wave of positive energy after the final whistle and Gareth aims to transport that from the Lane to the DW Stadium.

It's another huge weekend in the race for the top four and victory against the Latics would move us into third place with Arsenal and Chelsea playing on Sunday.

But Gareth and the rest of the squad know we're in for a test against a team fighting for survival.

“The win against City showed the team spirit and character we’ve got in the changing room and we need to maintain that now in the last five games,” said Gareth.

“We know what Wigan are like towards the end of every season, difficult to beat, so we have to take what we did against City into the game.

“It’s never easy, especially at this time of the season when a lot of teams have so much to play for. It will be a difficult game.

“We need to take a positive attitude to Wigan and not be too relaxed, be strong and try to get the three points.”
