Anthony Gardner is confident the back injury that denied him a probable first England cap will not keep him out of Sunday's clash against Aston Villa.
The 22-year-old was a surprise late call-up to Sven Goran Eriksson's squad for Sunday's friendly against Denmark.
Unfortunately the injury he first felt after the defeat at Arsenal surfaced again last Friday.
It was a great shame for the big defender - John Terry and Matthew Upson ended up playing 90 minutes at Old Trafford so it looks likely he would have won his first senior England cap.
Back at Spurs Lodge on Monday, Anthony was quick to allay any fears that the problem might rule him out of the Premiership clash against Villa at the Lane on Sunday.
"I'm fine," he said. "It was more of a precaution. The physio said it was best if I didn't risk an injury although I wanted to play so much.
"But when you are playing regularly you don't want an injury to knock you back. That was the case.
"I had a problem with my back straight after the Arsenal game. I trained on Tuesday but only did a light session because it was still troubling me then.
"I then got the call to go up, trained Thursday with no problems, felt good, trained Friday and then right at the end of the session my back locked up.
"The England physio Gary Lewin was a bit concerned but he sorted the problem out and then told me I was having muscle spasms on the left side of my back and that was affecting my hamstring, which had totally tightened up.
"To be honest, it settled down straight away and even if the game was early this week I might have been able to be involved but he thought it was best not to try and play on Sunday."
