Gardner: Good to be back
Tottenham Hotspur (Spurs) Football Club is located in North London. The club is also known as Spurs. Tottenham's home ground is White Hart Lane. The club motto is Audere est Facere (To dare is to do).
Anthony Gardner was delighted to be back in the first team fold against Leeds on Saturday.
The elegant defender partnered Ledley King in the centre and the pair were given a tough examination by the likes of Mark Viduka, Alan Smith and Harry Kewell. They stood up to the test well and Anthony came through unscathed - although he admits to feeling the effects a bit now.
"It was nice to play 90 minutes," he said. "It's been a while, but I felt good. I feel a bit tired now but it is all part and parcel I suppose.
"I knew in the week that I was going to play, the gaffer had a word with me - asking how I felt and that.
"I played in the reserve game on Wednesday and felt good after that, so there was no reason why not."
Anthony added that the ankle injury he sustained in the previous reserve game at Watford did not prove to be a lasting problem.
"It was just a precaution more than anything. It was only a whack, I felt a bit sore for a day or two and I got over that pretty quickly.
"It was a difficult game against Leeds. The gaffer said to us that they might come out fast after winning 6-1 and for us to bide our time, see if we could get the ball down and start playing."
