Anthony Gardner faces a spell on the sidelines after suffering a hairline fracture of his fibula in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final at Chelsea. The defender’s ill fortune with injuries continued soon after entering the fray as a substitute in the 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge.
“Anthony came on at Chelsea and after a couple of seconds took a knock to his knee,” revealed Martin Jol on Tuesday morning. “We’ll do a CT scan but it looks like he’ll be out for around six weeks.
“Fortunately, we have a squad of versatile players who can cover our defensive positions.”
