Steed Malbranque considers his performance against Cardiff in midweek as up there with his best since joining the club. The midfield playmaker chipped in with the third goal of the night in the FA Cup 3rd round replay and it was certainly the pick of the bunch in the 4-0 victory. The strike was his third goal since joining us from Fulham at the end of August in his 15th appearance.
The 27-year-old believes that, performance-wise, the display against the Championship side was similar to that put on against Newcastle at the weekend - only with the right result this time.
"Maybe it was one of the best for me - although Newcastle was another good one - and the Cardiff game ended with a very good result for the team. We scored four and didn't concede any so it is very good for our spirits.
"The goalkeeper was very good for Newcastle and made some terrific saves, which was unlucky for me and the team. We were very disappointed after the game because we created a lot of chances. If you don't score from the chances you create it makes it very hard, when Newcastle equalised it was not the same game afterwards.
"Against Cardiff we played the same, but we took our chances and didn't let any in, which makes it much easier," added Steed, who insists his personal goal tally is not a major factor for him as we forge on in four competitions.
"It is good, but not the most important thing for me. That is winning the game and the one after that and so on - to just move forward."
Next up in our hectic schedule is a trip to Craven Cottage to take on Steed's former club Fulham on Saturday. While Steed knows that will be a fair degree of focus on himself when he steps out on his old stomping ground, he has just one wish for the afternoon.
"It will be special game for me and I want to win. It will be the first time for me back at Craven Cottage, but the only important thing is the three points that we need."
