Ful' of desire!

English Barclays Premiership

Fulham provide our next pre-season test on Wednesday night. A trip back to Craven Cottage is bound to evoke bad memories of last season's Worthington Cup defeat and players and management alike still talk in disappointed terms of that third round loss.

Assistant manager Stewart Houston admitted: "The defeat last season was very disappointing, more so in the way we lost the game. From our standards, on the night, it wasn't a true reflection of Spurs."

Midfielder Steffen Freund recalled: "Last season at Fulham was a very bad game from Tottenham. I was on the pitch and I was terrible. It was a bad experience after the season before when we won the Worthington Cup."

And newcomer Ben Thatcher added: "Maybe Fulham think they've got one over us because of the Worthington Cup game last season. I watched that and it would nice to avenge it. It will be a tough game. Once again, their season starts early so they'll be up and ready for it."

Fulham's desire to win a place in the Premiership has seen the arrival of French legend Jean Tigana as manager. In turn, Tigana has persuaded John Collins to leave the Premiership at Everton and join his revolution.

Houston added: "They have a new management team but we have to concentrate on what we're going to do. It's very important that we prepare properly for these games and get a lot out of them.

"These are preparation games and we have to work on things to prepare for the start of the season. The most important thing is that the players are applying themselves well."
