FRUSTRATION FOR THREE LIONS

Ledley King made his England return alongside Paul Robinson and substitute Jermain Defoe in the goalless draw against Macedonia at Old Trafford.

It was Robbo's ninth clean sheet in his last 10 England appearances and Ledley's first cap since March but it was a frustrating afternoon for Steve McClaren's men in European Championship qualifying Group E.

Although Robbo barely had a save to make, Ledley had much more defending to do than anticipated as the Macedonians played with three up front.

Ledley was involved in the move that led to England's best chance in the first half, Frank Lampard denied by Jane Nikolovski, while in the second half Steven Gerrard struck the crossbar and Nikolovski saved well from Peter Crouch.

Jermain entered the fray for Wayne Rooney after 74 minutes and Ledley provided the cross for the final chance in injury time but Crouch headed wide.
